White Prairie Clover

Dalea candida

Formerly Petalostemon candidus. Native perennial non-toxic legume with white flowers, blooming June to October. Branched taproot. Found on well-drained coarse textured soils of prairies, roadsides and wooded openings; up to 8,000 ft. elevation. Provides nutritious browse for antelope, deer, elk and sharp-tail grouse. Intolerant of overgrazing. Attracts numerous native bees and honeybees and is a food source for the larvae of the Isola blue butterfly. Use for reclamation of disturbed soils, range renovation, prairie habitat restoration and roadside mixes
