  • Ignition Resistant Seed

In collaboration with the US Forest Service, we have designed a number of mixes to reduce ignition risk in areas that are prone to wildfires. These species were selected from a list developed by USDA Forest Service SCIRP (Southern CA Ignition Resistance Program) consisting of plants with high Live Fuel Moisture and minimal standing thatch/dead leaf litter. Although still in research and development, these mixes are likely to reduce ignitability from sparks and embers. These plants are also known to establish and persist in disturbed areas, compete with non-native annual species, and provide other benefits such as soil stabilization and pollinator habitat.

    How We Source Our Seed

    Diverse Inventory

Our team of botanists travel hundreds of miles to hand collect seed from native species growing in their natural wildland habitats. We help our clients source the most locally-adapted, genetically appropriate native seed for their projects through custom wildland seed collections. We work directly with agencies and landowners to develop and carry out these wildland collection plans using best practices to protect ecologically-sensitive areas.

From Field to Facility: Precision Processing

Our experts have decades of experience identifying required species and locating stands of harvestable plants within the project’s defined zones. This stand assessment helps ascertain potential yield, harvest date and the size of collection crew required to meet your project deadlines. The harvested field material, after proper drying, are conditioned in our state of the art seed cleaning facility in Los Alamos, CA. The dry, conditioned seed is assigned a unique lot number and stored in our warehouse facility. Special long term storage arrangements can be utilized if needed. Samples are sent to a independent certified seed testing laboratory to ensure purity and sufficient germination.
