A common desert shrub with a straggly appearance found generally below 4,000 ft. elevation. It is widespread and tends to form dense thickets along sandy washes throughout the Southwest. Referred to as cheese-bush due to the odor of its foliage when crushed. Grows two to three feet tall and is recommended for use in seed blends intended for dry, sandy, desert areas.
