Native perennial subshrub with vivid blue flowers often saturated with pink, blooming May to August. Drought tolerant, occurring in well-drained coarse soils on open dry sagebrush steppe and high elevation meadows with a lingering winter snowpack; 2,000-10,000 ft. Use for habitat restoration, roadsides and xeriscaping. Fibrous root system is excellent for soil stabilization. Attracts numerous native bees and pollinators.Â
