VNS Winter Rye

Winter rye can be used for grazing and haying.

Winter Rye provides some short term fall grazing after October 15th with adequate fall moisture and early planting; spring grazing from about April 1 through May

When used for hay, cut in boot stage in late May to early June. Estimated yield is 1.5 to 3 tons per acre.

Planting Rate: 1.5 Bushel/Acre
Planting Date: August 15th through October 1st.
