Rough bentgrass

Agrostis scabra

Cool season, short-lived, perennial bunchgrass with a fibrous root system, occasionally with stolons. Adapted to a wide variety of habitats from streambanks to sagebrush communities. Tolerates low pH and acidic soils and periodic flooding. Palatable in the spring prior to flowering. Easily established and highly successful pioneer species.
