Plains bristlegrass
Setaria vulpiseta
Formerly Setaria macrostachya. Warm season, short-lived, perennial bunchgrass adapted to coarse, well-drained sites. Very drought tolerant. Highly palatable to livestock and wildlife. Useful for erosion control on shallow to deep soils and for improving wildlife habitat. Seeds provide valuable food for birds and small mammals.
