Desmanthus illinoensis

Native, semi-woody perennial legume with white globelike flower heads, blooming June to October. Occurs in well-drained soils of prairies, thickets, rocky slopes and open sites throughout the plains and southeastern states. Good palatability to big game; seeds desirable for wild birds. Pollinated by native bees.
