Erect fibrous‐rooted perennial, up to 30 in. tall, with fern-like leaves and showy pink flowers (occasionally white) resembling an elephant’s trunk and ears. High moisture requirement, growing in wet meadows, seeps and along streambanks at 2,500-13,000 ft. elevations in the western U.S. and Canada, often in large colonies. Parasitic on adjacent wetland plants.
