Native bulbous perennial with light to deep blue flowers, blooming April to July. Grows in full sun to part shade in moist meadows, depressions, seasonal floodplains and prairies that dry by early summer; up to 11,000 ft. elevation. Tolerant of heavy clay soils. Up to three years before first blooming season. Grazed by ungulates in spring. Attracts beneficial insects.
