Big Bluestem is a warm season, bunch sod-former. It is a tall grass that is long-lived that is mostly found east of the Rocky Mountains.

Star Seed offers several improved varieties including Bonilla, Kaw, Pawnee and Roundtree. Each Big Bluestem variety offers adaptability for certain regions of the United States as well as varying qualities for palatability, temperature, moisture and drought tolerances.

Was developed in Kansas and is a late season variety for use in Central Nebraska to Southern Oklahoma.
Very good disease resistance, leafiness and growth vigor.
Pawnee

Originates from Pawnee County, NE
Good forage producer
Late season Big Bluestem seed producer
Roundtree

Very good variety for use in pasture and hay
Mid to late summer rapid growth
Very good heat tolerance
