Poa secunda ssp. ampla
Big Bluegrass (Poa ampla) is a perennial grass native to Western US states (such as Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada) that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–8. Reaching a mature height of 2–4 feet with a tall, robust tufted growth habit, it features broad, pale green to glaucous leaves and produces dense, narrow seed panicles. It thrives in dry to moist soils in sagebrush steppes, open ponderosa pine forests, and mountain meadows and is ideal for spring rangeland grazing, post-fire revegetation, and watershed protection.
