Lolium perenne ssp. multiflorum
Annual Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) is an annual grass native to southern US states (such as Texas, Georgia, and Oregon) and has also been successfully introduced across North America as a non-invasive crop that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–10 as a cool-season annual. Reaching a mature height of 2–3 feet with an upright tillering growth habit, it features glossy, dark green leaf blades and produces long, narrow seed spikes. It thrives in a wide range of fertile soils and is ideal for quick-cover soil stabilization, agricultural winter cover cropping, and pasture forage.
