Alpine Bluegrass (Poa alpina) is a perennial grass native to Northern and Western US states (such as Alaska, Montana, Colorado, and Washington) that can thrive in USDA Zones 2–6. Reaching a mature height of 4–12 inches with a compact clumping growth habit, it features short, folded, dark green leaves and produces dense, purplish seed panicles. It thrives in cold, high-elevation alpine meadows, rocky slopes, and scree and is ideal for high-altitude erosion control, alpine ski slope revegetation, and montane watershed protection.
